Principal - Mr. Michael Williams

Dear Austin Road Middle School Students, Families, and Community Members,
My name is Michael Williams, and I am pleased to introduce myself as the proud principal of Austin Road Middle School.
In every strong school, there is something you can feel before anyone says a word. You can feel the pride. You can feel the high expectations. You can feel the care people have for the children in the school. That feeling I had when I first walked into Austin Road Middle School says more about it than any data point ever could.
That is also what stood out to me as I researched and learned more about Austin Road Middle School this spring. ARMS is known for excellent performance, a deep sense of community, and a love for its children that is evident in the work of its students, staff, families, and partners. I could not find a comparable school anywhere in the state. That does not happen by accident. It reflects years of hard work, high standards, and steady leadership.
I want to recognize the tremendous work of our retired principal, Ms. Libra Brittain, along with the educators, staff members, families, students, and community partners who helped make Austin Road such a remarkable place. I enter this role with respect for what has already been built and with a responsibility to help carry it even further.
My deepest belief is simple: every child under my care deserves the same love, care, concern, protection, and opportunity that I want for my own two children. That is why I have dedicated my life to public education. To me, educating and leading for justice means building schools where children are safe, learning is meaningful, expectations are high, and support is deep enough to help every child grow.
High expectations. Deep support. For everyone.
Middle school is a critical time. Students are discovering who they are, what they are good at, how to recover from mistakes, and what kind of future they can imagine for themselves. They deserve to be safe, known, valued, challenged, and supported. They deserve strong academics and rich opportunities that help them discover their talents and expand their world.
My commitment is to honor the excellence already present at ARMS while continuing to fight for new and cutting-edge opportunities for our children. If there is an opportunity anywhere that can help students learn more, dream bigger, or see new possibilities for themselves, I want our students to have access to it.
Families and community members are essential partners in this work. In the coming weeks and months, there will be meaningful opportunities for us to meet, listen, learn, and share our hopes and highest aspirations for our school.
Thank you for welcoming me into the Austin Road Middle School community. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve you.
Sincerely,
Mr. Michael Williams
Principal

ARMS Family,
As we gear up for another exciting academic year, it is my great pleasure as the Assistant Principal to extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you.
The start of a new school year brings with it a sense of renewal, fresh opportunities, and the chance to create wonderful memories. It is a time for growth, both academically and personally, and I have no doubt that this year will be no exception.
Our dedicated team of educators has been hard at work preparing for the upcoming year, ensuring that every student receives the best possible education in a nurturing and inclusive environment. We will continue to uphold our pursuit of exceptional and remain committed to winning for ARMS, every child, every minute, and every day. Parents and guardians, we deeply value your partnership in your child's education. Your involvement, encouragement, and cooperation play a crucial role in their overall development. We will maintain open lines of communication and keep you informed about your child's progress throughout the year.
This year, we will continue to promote a positive and inclusive school culture where every individual feels valued, respected, and safe. Our school thrives on diversity, and we encourage students to embrace each other's differences and learn from one another.
As we begin this journey together, let's remember that success is not only measured by academic achievements but also by the friendships forged, the obstacles overcome, and the personal growth experienced.I encourage all students to take advantage of the various extracurricular activities and clubs we offer. These opportunities will allow you to explore your interests, develop leadership skills, and create lasting memories.
Let us work together, students, parents, and staff, to make this school year the best it can be. I am confident that by working as a team, we can overcome any challenge and celebrate our collective accomplishments.
Wishing you all an enriching and fulfilling new school year!

It is an absolute honor to serve as the Assistant Principal of Austin Road Middle School! I am thrilled to continue leading and learning alongside our incredible Jaguar family. This year marks my 17th year in education, and my journey has been fueled by a deep passion for student success and educator growth.
Before stepping into administration, I proudly taught 8th Grade English Language Arts and Social Studies for 14 years, and later served as an Instructional Coach here at Austin Road Middle for two years. I currently oversee Curriculum and Instruction, serve as the State Testing Coordinator, and support our 6th and 7th-grade scholars. I also have the privilege of working closely with the CTAE, Social Studies, English Language Arts, Foreign Language, and Physical Education departments.
I believe that great schools are built through collaboration, data-driven decisions, and a shared commitment to growth. As a lifelong learner, I strive to cultivate an environment where every scholar and educator is empowered to reach their fullest potential.
At Austin Road Middle School, we are Driven to Accelerate and Built to Impact—and I am beyond excited to make this year one of our best yet!
